Angry Birds

Can you guess what animals are the most popular nowadays? That's right - the Angry Birds and their enemies the Green Pigs.

Whether they are kids or adults, my students all love the Angry Birds. I get more requests from students to make Angry Birds than any other kind of project. So my students and I made a whole slew of projects dedicated to everyone's favorite game!

These projects make great Christmas gifts, take a look:

We have Party Angry Bird, a great kids' birthday party project:

I think this is the cutest one - the Christmas Angry Bird:

...doesn't this look like an army of Angry Bird soldiers? Each of these Angry Birds sits atop a music box that plays "Jingle Bells":

The above Angry Birds were made by the awesome kids from John Sinnott Elementary School in Milpitas, CA. It was their first project ever using Air Dry Clay and they did a terrific job!

Below is an Angry Bird Pen Holder:

... last but not least, my student Ashley made this Christmas-themed Angry Bird Slingshot:

Banana Split And Other Desserts

Wow, what a delicious looking Banana Split (made out of clay)! It was made by my student Claudia.

Everyone has their favorite dessert that brings back sweet memories from their childhood. For Claudia, it's the Banana Split. That is why she chose it.

This is one project that created a lot of fun and excitement for everyone - from Claudia, to me, to the other students who watched the process of making it, to folks who see finished product. It makes everyone hungry!

Claudia also made many other delicious-looking desserts (made out of clay, of course!) Take a look and see...

Clay Basket

What a beautiful basket. Everything you can see on this basket - including the flowers, the lace-like trimming, and the basket itself - is made of clay. My student Indra made it.

Indra used to make a lot of miniature clay flowers. This is her first large project, and it amazed everyone. She chose the colors herself, and it shows her creativity. She really did a great job! I'm so proud of her. And she is proud of herself too.

Don't you agree this basket is gorgeous?

Kids Birthday Party

Since we opened the Clay Art Magic Studio, we've held several very successful kids birthday parties there.

Parents love the fact that having the party at the Studio allows kids to have a great time while they learn something, and the kids get to create a special memento that they will enjoy long after the event.

The kids spend about 2 hours making their birthday party mementos, followed by another hour where they eat cake and enjoy music, games, and fun.

Everyone feels that time passes by too quickly, because they are having such a great time - and that includes me! I enjoy these parties very much.

Ice cream is the most popular kids birthday party project.

Clay Art Discovery Class At The Studio

We had Kids and Adults Clay Art Discovery Classes at the new Clay Art Magic Studio. This is the first time we've had a Discovery Class at the Studio. I feel it was a great success!

Not only did everyone complete a really nice project, but the not a minute went by during the 2 hour class that the Studio was not filled with laughter.

Even though everyone was just meeting each other for the first time, because of the shared fun of working with clay, everyone got along like they were old friends.

Thanks to all the participants who made this class a really special time!

Clay Art Discovery Class At The Milpitas Library

I recently taught Clay Art Discovery Classes for Kids and Adults at the Milpitas Library. I am very grateful to the library for this opportunity to share Clay Art with many people. Thanks also to all who enthusiastically participated in the class. We had a great time together!

The project the Adults class worked on was a decorative rose covering for a bar of fragrant soap. When placed on a desk it serves as a decorative piece and also gives a pleasant fragrance.

At the start of the class, the participants were not sure if they could actually make something out of clay. But in the end they were all very surprised and happy with their result.

The project for the Kids class was an Easter Bunny Key Hanger. The kids really enjoyed the class and they were able to add their own creative twists to the project. The parents also had a great time and were very happy to see their kids having so much fun. They were very interested and amazed by their kids' work.

The classes filled up very quickly and many people were not able to take the classes because they were already full. To the folks who were not able to take a class, I'd like to say I'm very sorry, and I look forward to meeting you in a future class.

Picture Frame

This project shows a scene with: a sleeping dog, the dog's leftover bone, chicks, and a nest full of eggs, and clouds.

The kids who made this project are so creative and imaginative. Some of their chicks are flying, some made clouds in the shape of hearts, and they were especially excited when making the eggs. Some made cracked eggs to show that a new chick is about to come out.... Their ideas are so cute!

Valentine's Day Presents

"This is my first Valentine's Day gift to my boyfriend. It's special because I made it myself. I'm sure he'll be very happy to get a gift I made with my own hands."

"I don't have a boyfriend yet. So I'll just give this Valentine's Day gift to myself."

Chinese New Year

This year is the Year Of The Rabbit. My students had fun making these hangers that are decorated with a rabbit carrying a piece of gold (which denotes prosperity and good luck). The rabbits are also standing on an even bigger nugget of gold.

The students said after finishing this project "We feel rich!"
